1. History of the school

Center of Professional Training in Technology and Economics, Prague 9, Poděbradská 1 (further COPTH) was established in the year 1950 as a training center of one of the Czech leading corporations - the ČKD PRAHA.
At the beginning of the nineties, due to major structural changes in the  ČKD PRAHA holding resulting in lower demand for new labor force, the educational orientation  of the school had to be reformed. The Centre became an independent body run by The Magistrates of Prague, who appoint the headmaster, and an orientation on Heavy and Light current three and four years courses was chosen as well as a course of economics. Also  specialized workshops of Autotronics were built and most up to date diagnostic equipment was fitted. The school has also entered the field of Environmental Education and use of renewable sources of energy.

2. Location

The COPTH has three centers, the first one on Poděbradská street (so-called Harfa) where the offices of the management are located and the electrotechnical subjects are taught. The second one, situated about 2 km to the southwest, on Pod Balkánem street ( so-called Fišpanka), deals with the economics courses focused on small businesses, and the third one on Ceskobrodska street with power engineering workshops.
The location of the COPTH near Vysocanska underground station and opposite the PRAHA LIBEN train station makes it easy to reach and commute on daily basis even from more distant places.
