ENGLISH INFORMATION 1. History of the school Center of Professional Training in Technology and Economics, Prague 9, Poděbradská 1 (further COPTH) was established in the year 1950 as a training center of one of the Czech leading corporations - the ČKD PRAHA. At the beginning of the nineties, due to major structural changes in the ČKD PRAHA holding resulting in lower demand for new labor force, the educational orientation of the school had to be reformed. The Centre became an independent body run by The Magistrates of Prague, who appoint the headmaster, and an orientation on Heavy and Light current three and four years courses was chosen as well as a course of economics. Also specialized workshops of Autotronics were built and most up to date diagnostic equipment was fitted. The school has also entered the field of Environmental Education and use of renewable sources of energy. 2. Location The COPTH has three centers, the first one on Poděbradská street (so-called Harfa) where the offices of the management are located and the electrotechnical subjects are taught. The second one, situated about 2 km to the southwest, on Pod Balkánem street ( so-called Fišpanka), deals with the economics courses focused on small businesses, and the third one on Ceskobrodska street with power engineering workshops. The location of the COPTH near Vysocanska underground station and opposite the PRAHA LIBEN train station makes it easy to reach and commute on daily basis even from more distant places. 3. Currently a specialization of Autotronics is on offer. The latest offer in this section is oriented towards Environmental Education, for which the school has a unique equipment demonstrating the use of energy from renewable sources and energy saving in a household /co-called Ecohouse/. 4. International cooperation 1. Dutch association Kenteq Since the 1993 the COPTH has been a Satellite School and Examination Center for an international professional certificates of the Dutch association of power engineers VEV / later merged with Kenteq corporation / meeting the EU standards. 2. International cooperation with other schools abroad Since the 1997 the school has been working within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci Project ( program of EU countries for integration and improvement of educational projects and the methodology of education ). The following exchanges took place: · 8 students and 1 teacher on 14 days meeting of youth of 6 countries in Doberlug-Kirchhain (Germany) in 8/97 and 8/98 · one week scholarship of 15 students and 2 teachers at an electrotechnical school in Braunau (Austria) · since the year 1999 five three weeks placements for students of the courses Management of Trade and Services and Electrotechnics have been taking place in Doberlug-Kirchhain in order to obtain and improve practical skills in this field The school also participated on the project “European Electrician”. The project was coordinated by an electrotechnical school Jacobsskolan in Hässleholm (Sweden) and other participants were from Germany, Austria, and Greece. The aim was the integration of curricula for electricians and creating a common European certification strategy. |
